Brohnsonn provided full structural engineering services for the project, supporting the delivery of a high quality, architecturally led luxury resort development from concept design through to detailed design and construction support.
A defining element of Brohnsonn’s involvement was the delivery of the resort’s signature roof structures. In contrast to the previous development on Desroches, the architectural vision demanded complex roof forms and extended spans. These requirements were resolved through an intricate steel structural solution, carefully engineered to reflect the organic tortoise shell geometry externally while simultaneously supporting the faceted vaulted ceilings that define the internal spaces.
The development also incorporates one of the largest swimming pools constructed within a resort development in the Seychelles, presenting additional technical and coordination challenges within a remote island environment. These elements collectively underscore the project’s structural complexity and Brohnsonn’s ability to deliver innovative solutions aligned with a premium architectural brief.
The Waldorf Astoria on Platte Island is a new 50 villa luxury resort development, complete with a full range of guest amenities. The resort’s public buildings feature iconic architectural forms, with design inspiration drawn from the natural geometry of tortoise shells, creating a distinctive visual identity for the island. These sculptural structures form a signature architectural statement, firmly establishing the development as a landmark destination within the Seychelles.
