Brohnsonn provided full structural and civil engineering services for the project, supporting the transformation of the existing development to meet a new architectural vision. Achieving the revised design required significant structural intervention at ground floor level, where modifications to the primary support structure were essential to create an open and welcoming main lobby space—a key architectural objective.
The works involved the careful retrofit of structural transfer beams and new column supports, demanding detailed engineering analysis and close coordination to integrate new structural elements within the constraints of the existing building fabric.
In addition, Brohnsonn played a pivotal role in the design of exposed engineered timber elements, including the development of the concealed connection detailing. These components were engineered to satisfy structural performance and durability requirements while maintaining a refined architectural expression.
Originally operating as the Wharf Hotel, the property was comprehensively refurbished by the new owners, with the existing hotel building sensitively upgraded and expanded to include a new presidential villa and a purpose designed spa complex. The development significantly enhanced the resort’s accommodation and amenity offering while elevating its overall architectural and guest experience.
